Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

General Information & Capabilities

Q: What industries does Tabarestan Steel Foundry (TSF) serve?

A: While our core expertise lies in the Iron & Steel, Mining, Cement, and Oil & Gas sectors, our capabilities extend much further. We also manufacture high-integrity components for the Railway industry (couplers, frogs), Aluminum Smelting (anode yokes), Gas industry (turbo compressor cases), and Heat Treatment facilities (trays and baskets).

Q: What is the weight range and production capacity of TSF castings?

A: We offer immense versatility in production. Our facilities can handle components ranging from small precision parts weighing just 0.1 kg up to massive heavy-duty castings weighing 10 tons.

Q: Does TSF possess international certifications?

A: Yes. We are fully certified with ISO 9001 for Quality Management and ISO 14001 for Environmental Management. Furthermore, our products for critical sectors are manufactured in compliance with international standards such as ASTM, DIN, and GOST.

Manufacturing Technologies

Q: What casting methods do you use?

A: We operate a dual-foundry system to optimize quality and cost:

  • Foundry No. 1 (Sand Casting): Used for large, heavy-duty components requiring high durability.

Foundry No. 2 (Replicast/Ceramic Shell): utilizing licensed British CTI technology. This method uses polystyrene patterns and ceramic shells to produce high-precision, lightweight components with superior surface finishes and no need for draft angles.

Q: Do you offer machining and assembly services?

A: Yes. TSF is a vertically integrated manufacturer. We have a dedicated machining plant adjacent to Foundry No. 1 equipped with heavy-duty lathes (up to 3500mm) and CNC gantry milling machines (up to 6000mm). We deliver components fully machined and, where required, fully assembled (e.g., complete Pallet Cars).

Q: How do you ensure the quality of complex castings before production begins?

A: Our Design and Technology Department utilizes a "virtual foundry" approach. We use advanced simulation software—Magma, ProCAST, and SUTCAST—to model fluid dynamics and solidification. This allows us to predict and eliminate defects like porosity or shrinkage before a single drop of metal is poured.

Industry-Specific Solutions

Q: Can TSF support both Lurgi and Allis-Chalmers pelletizing plants?

A: Absolutely. We are a premier supplier for both technologies.

  • For Lurgi (Straight Grate): We manufacture Pallet Car units and Grate Bars.

For Allis-Chalmers (Grate Kiln): We produce Grate Plates and Chain Castings. We are a trusted partner to major clients like Mobarakeh Steel and Golgohar Mining.

Q: Do you manufacture complete Pallet Cars for pelletizing plants?

A: Yes. TSF is one of the few manufacturers capable of producing a complete Pallet Car assembly. We manufacture over 60 distinct components in-house (Center Parts, End Castings, Side Walls, etc.) and deliver the unit fully assembled and ready for installation. Our units have been successfully operating in Mobarakeh Steel’s pelletizing line for over a decade.

Q: What represents your expertise in the Oil & Gas sector?

A: TSF is a pioneer in localizing advanced alloys. We were the first domestic producer to manufacture Tube Sheets using the complex 45Ni-35Cr-Nb alloy for the Bushehr Petrochemical Methanol Project. We also produce heaters, return bends, and supports using high-performance alloys like 50Cr-50Ni-Nb (Inconel 657).

Q: What is your experience in the Cement industry?

A: We have been a designated supplier for global leaders like FLSmidth and Christian Pfeiffer, exporting over 2,000 tons of mill liners to the latter. We supply comprehensive wear parts for Crushing, Grinding (Ball and Vertical Mills), and Kiln departments.

Quality Control & Testing

Q: How does TSF verify the quality of its products?

A: Our Quality Control Unit operates independently to ensure unbiased verification. We possess advanced laboratories for Spectrometry, Metallography, and Hardness Testing. We perform a full suite of Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) including Ultrasonic (UT), Radiographic (RT), Magnetic Particle (MT), and Liquid Penetrant (PT) testing, all conducted by certified ASNT/ISO specialists.

Q: What documentation do I receive with my order?

A: Upon completion, TSF issues a Quality Certificate (Final Book) prepared in accordance with DIN EN 10204. This comprehensive document consolidates all chemical, mechanical, dimensional, and NDT test reports, serving as the product's passport and proof of compliance.

Q: What are your Heat Treatment capabilities?

A: We treat heat treatment as a precise science. Our workshop features 11 furnaces with capacities up to 20 tons and chamber sizes up to 6x7 meters. We perform annealing, normalizing, and quenching (in Air, Oil, or Water) using smart PLC systems to ensure uniform mechanical properties and microstructure.

Engineering & Support

Q: Can TSF help if we don't have perfect drawings or if our parts are obsolete?

A: Yes. Our Engineering Unit specializes in Reverse Engineering. We can 3D scan existing worn parts, analyze the material composition, and create new technical drawings. We also perform Design Validation to optimize customer drawings for better castability and longer service life.

Q: Does TSF export its products?

A: Yes, we have a strong global footprint. We have successfully exported mill liners to Russia and the CIS region, and complete pallet cars to South America. We are experienced in meeting international shipping and quality standards.
