For over two decades, Tabarestan Steel Foundry (TSF) has been recognized as one of Iran’s leading industrial manufacturers in the field of steel casting and engineered pump components. We play a crucial role in supporting the country’s copper mining industry through the design, production, and optimization of primary cyclone slurry pumps.

Committed to innovation, quality, and collaboration with national mining complexes, TSF continuously enhances the performance and durability of slurry pump components. Our focus remains on increasing operational efficiency and reducing maintenance costs for our clients.

Expertise in Slurry Pump Manufacturing

Slurry pumps are designed to transport fluids containing abrasive solid particles—typically a mixture of water and hard, coarse, or adhesive solids that cause significant wear.

TSF specializes in producing the main wear components of these pumps, specifically the casing, impeller, and inlet cover. These parts are manufactured using High-Chromium White Cast Iron in accordance with ASTM A532, providing superior resistance to both abrasion and corrosion in copper mine operations.

Collaboration with the National Iranian Copper Industries Company

Our partnership with the National Iranian Copper Industries Company (NICICO) dates back to the mid-2000s. Key milestones include:

  • HM600 Pump: Reverse-engineered and produced in 2006; first supplied to Sarcheshmeh Copper Mine in 2007. Over 250 sets have since been delivered to Sarcheshmeh, Sungun, and Miduk Copper Mines.
  • Primary Cyclone Pump (Phase Zero): Designed in 2008 and supplied in 2009, with more than 140 sets delivered to Sarcheshmeh.
  • MM600 and MM400 Pumps: Reverse-engineered for Sarcheshmeh and Sungun Copper Mines in 2009 and 2015, respectively, with over 35 sets produced.

In addition, TSF manufactures WARMAN and VASA pump components in various size ranges, serving clients such as Chadormalu Mining Company since 2003.

Continuous Improvement and Optimization Efforts

Constant innovation and material optimization are core philosophies at TSF. We have strengthened our technical leadership through the following initiatives:

1. Certification We hold certification from FLSmidth for the production of high-chromium wear-resistant cast iron for thick parts.

2. Material Optimization

  • Use of high-quality raw materials and precise alloying.
  • Adjustment of chemical compositions to achieve optimal metallurgical properties.
  • Addition of special inoculants and deoxidizers to refine melt structure.

3. Collaborative Research We work with universities and external laboratories to:

  • Define optimal chemical compositions based on slurry particle size and PH.
  • Improve carbide morphology and dispersion for enhanced wear resistance.

4. Advanced Heat-Treatment

  • Use of precision-controlled furnaces managed by dedicated heat-treatment teams.
  • Development of proprietary furnaces for higher efficiency and consistency.

5. Enhanced Inspection Procedures

  • Identification of critical points in components.
  • Implementation of updated inspection protocols including VT, PT, hardness, and metallography.

Product Spotlight: New HMM600 Pump Design

Developed in collaboration with Sungun Copper Mine, the HMM600 is designed to reduce energy consumption and extend service life.

Performance Advantages of HMM600:

  • Lower Power Consumption: Consumes up to 100 kW less power compared to the standard HM600.
  • Weight Reduction: Features an 18% lighter casing, effectively reducing production costs.
  • Hydraulics: Achieves a higher flow rate at lower speeds.
  • Durability: Offers longer wear life and reduced vibration.
  • Compatibility: Fully compatible with existing HM600 installations.

Achievements and Performance Records

TSF’s commitment to excellence has yielded remarkable operational results:

  • The Primary Cyclone Pump (Phase Zero) at Sarcheshmeh achieved a record 6,200 operating hours.
  • A new-alloy version of this pump has been successfully tested and is currently in operation.
  • The HM600 and MM600 pumps consistently maintain the highest operational lifetimes in the field.

Through technical innovation, precision manufacturing, and close collaboration with industry partners, Tabarestan Steel Foundry (TSF) has established itself as a trusted leader in the production and optimization of slurry pumps for the mining sector.

Our ongoing efforts in material science, process improvement, and engineering design ensure that our products deliver maximum efficiency, durability, and value for customers across Iran’s industrial landscape.
